The Institute of Black Culture, Media and Sport has been funded by Heritage Lottery Fund to make a documentary feature film and learning pack, about the African . Application deadline is 30th April, 2015:History of Sport. Consequently, the Institute would like to fill the following posts by May 2015

 

Researcher (2) Posts

Two researchers are required to  locate ancient African sports data and artifacts; identify, analyze and collating materials on Neolithic hunting tools, sports and leisure activities in ancient Egyptian and Nile Valley Civilizations; provide relevant and appropriate sources of interviewees, photographs, footage and online images; advising management committee, production staff (film director, editor and camera operator) on relevant historical data, actors and other creative personnel as or when required to do so; and assist scriptwriting.

Addition tasks

•        Identify relevant documents, books, artifacts, photographs, other online images and archive footage from BBC and other sources.

•        Identify appropriate interviewees, actors/actresses and children;

•        Conduct film interviews;

•        Provide training supervision opportunities for two trainee researchers and two volunteers;

•        Present and refine research findings in academic prose;

•        Assist preparation of learning pack;

•        Evaluate project stages of completion.

Ideal Candidate

•        Professional research background.

•        Love and keen knowledge of sports, particularly black sporting achievements;

•        Reliability, responsible and dependable in fulfilling obligations;

•        Good ITC skills and an ability to write clear prose;

•        Scriptwriting experience (optional);

 

 

Additional competences

•        An understanding of archival research procedures;

•        Self-control—ability to maintain composure in challenging situations;

•        Rigour;

•        High stress tolerence level.

 

LINES OF COMMUNICATION

•        Post holders are accountable to the chair and the management committee and are expected to liaise with the director, production manager, trainees and volunteers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

•        Full-time equivalent post. Researchers will be expected to work from Freelance post

•        Post holder is expected to work on location and in the studio.

•        Fees negotiable

•        1 month fixed term contract.
